What is Single-Ply Roofing?

  • PVC- (Polyvinyl chloride) While similar to TPO, PVC is quite different in its chemical composition. Essentially a plastic, the membrane is made of two layers of PVC material with a polyester in between to act as reinforcement. This type of membrane is often used on buildings in harsh environments as it can withstand those conditions.
  • EPDM- (Ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) This is an extremely durable, synthetic, rubber membrane. This material might be better used in an area where you get a lot of damage from hail. Also, if you plan to install solar panels you should consider an EPDM roof as it is not reflective like TPO or white PVC roofs.
